The Peopling of the Americas: A Scientific, Historical, and Scriptural Investigation

Do you remember your high school history class? Do you recall learning the Land Bridge Migration theory as an exploitation for how the Native Americas arrived in the Americas before the time of Columbus? In case you forgot, archaeologists and historians have postulated that Siberia and Alaska were once connected by an ice sheet which allowed Asians to cross over into North America. Upon arriving in the Americas these people groups slowly matriculated throughout North and South America settling in various regions.

Have you ever looked at a map and thought to yourself, "it looks like South America and Africa could fit together like the pieces of a jig saw puzzle." Scientists have long postulated that the Earth was originally one land mass, a phenomenon known as Pangea. Millions of years ago, through the natural processes of subduction, accretion, folding, and faulting Pangea broke apart and the continents drifted into their current locations, according to the theory of Continental Drift.

Both of these theories rely heavily Charles Darwin's theory of evolution for their theoretical support. Should the believer accept Lang Bridge Migration and Continental Drift without considering the subject through the lenses of Scripture? Ten years ago, I investigated the subject and wrote the following paper explaining my findings for a collegiate course in United States History. Please enjoy, The Peopling of the Americas: A Scientific, Historical, and Scriptural Investigation.
