The Root of All Evil Part 1
Richard Dawkins is a British ethnologist, evolutionary biologist and popular science author. Dawkins came to prominence with his 1976 book The Selfish Gene, which popularized the gene-centered view of evolution. Dawkins is a prominent critic of creationism and intelligent design. In his 1986 book The Blind Watchmaker, he argued against the watchmaker analogy, an argument for the existence of a supernatural creator based upon the complexity of living organisms. Instead, he described evolutionary processes as analogous to a blind watchmaker. He has since written several popular science books, and makes regular television and radio appearances, predominantly discussing these topics. Widely referred to as Darwin's Rottweiler, Dawkins contends in his 2006 book The God Delusion that a supernatural creator almost certainly does not exist and that faith qualifies as a delusion − as a fixed false belief.
Dawkins is part of a modern trinity of militant Atheists who not only deny the existence of God but call any type of religious faith a virus. Join by Christopher Hitchens author of God is Not Great and Sam Harris author of The End of Faith and Letter to a Christian Nation, Dawkins and his troop represent a new more aggressive form of Atheism. These authors rail against religious fundamentalism while failing to recognize the establishment of their own dogma. After all if Atheism is correct than any belief system to the contrary would have to wrong. In their zeal to rid the world of virus of faith, the Atheistic trinity has articulated a new Atheist Fundamentalism that seems to defeat their own argument. Furthermore, does it not take faith to be an Atheist? Dawkins, Hitchens, and Harris have asserted a position that takes more faith to believe than Christian Trinitarian Monotheism.
For those readers who are unfamiliar with Dawkins' work above you will find a link to a companion documentary to The God Delusion entitled The Root of All Evil. Even a cursory view of this video will demonstrate the extent to the Adversary's attack on the Gospel of Grace. I believe that you will find this documentary eye opening, chilling, and challenging. How do we answer this modern heresy? Preach the word be instant in season and out of season.
